Volunteering?
The
North County Food Pantry is co-directed by volunteers Sandy and Joe
Harvey.
The number of volunteers needed to run the pantry is
approximately 37 volunteers year round plus an additional 8 in the
summer with the community garden work (45 volunteers total). There are
many many jobs performed behind the scenes to keep this charity open. If
you are interested in assisting us, there is a volunteer application
form available for download at the top of this page. We would love to
meet you and discuss any kind of volunteering you may want to do. Or, you
can stop by and pick up an application when we are open on either
Monday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings (freight)
Donations?
Here
at NCFP, we are always grateful for any donations of food, whether from
your garden excess or the extra in your pantry.
The majority of our food supplies are received from Second Harvest and Northwest Harvest. We receive freight from Second Harvest on every Thursday, and from Northwest Harvest on the second Wednesday of each month. On the first Monday of the month we receive a food drive from St. Joseph's Parish in Colbert, WA. We also receive bakery donations regularly from Caritas in Spokane WA.
Many organizations such as
schools, churches, Scouts and business' regularly contribute to the Pantry
through food drives and other collections. Whatever we collect ourselves, we strive along with our partners at the New Hope Resource Center (501C3) in Chatteroy to carefully distribute respectfully to the clients in our area. All donations to us are tax deductible, within IRS tax guidelines.
We appreciate all donations, and would like to also mention that monetary donations do allow us to purchase what else is
needed.
We use our FaceBook Page to request what other
current necessities are needed like toiletries, cleaning supplies, first
aid supplies, and household items. Feel free to contact us if you have any helpful ideas.
